ACTUAL Innovation! – AB Suppressor Raptor 8 – The Silencer Show!

Its not often that we actually see something innovative in the firearms industry. One of the sectors that does seem to be pushing boundaries for every little inch of performance though, is the suppressor industry. And today we’re going to be taking a look at one that comes at things in a new way that actually seems to put performance first. We’ll check it out, after this.
Welcome back to the gun collective, my name is Jon Patton. Today we are looking at the Raptor from a new company called AB Suppressor. As far as specs go, these are made from titanium, weighing in at 6.8 ounces for the 6 stack and 7.8 for the 8 stack. You see, the way they name their cans is based on the amount of baffles inside. They range from 2 all the way up to 10. We have the 6 and 8 on hand. Not only that but as you can see there are reflex sections which extend rearward from the muzzle for extra gas volume. This is supposed to help with sound as well as blowback. Every can comes with a flush mount AND a reflex section of your choice. For the MSRP of 975 for the Raptor 6 and 1035 for the Raptor 8, these are right on par or under par price wise with some of the best around. In terms of aesthetics, these cans look interesting. The design is clean but certainly not the typical look for a can. That is because the baffles are unlike any that I’ve seen on a suppressor to date. The man behind the company Brad Riley actually has a background in designing turbochargers for cars and machinery and he applied that technology and though process to managing the airflow in a suppressor. Hence the name, Aerocharger Ballistics or AB.
That being said, its time to shoot them and see if all this fancy stuff actually matters. First, we got our baseline with this Howa 1500 in 300 win mag sitting in an MDT chassis. You guys have seen this gun before on the channel. Pretty straight forward, its loud. I figured this one would benefit most from the 8 stack version.
The first shot really surprised me. The sound reduction was excellent and the tone was clean. Its hard to tell via video but this thing really impressed me right off the bat. I’ll shut up so you can hear more.
After a few shots with that set up, we decided to add one of the 3 inch reflex extensions to the backend. The takeaway from this shooting string was that it had great tone and wasn’t uncomfortable even when I removed my hearing protection. For reference, this was shot using 150 grain Remington core-lokt ammo. Times are tough and I wasn’t about to use my match ammo for a suppressor test.
Moving on from there, my 6.5 Creedmoor build was our test platform. This gun has a muzzle brake on it so our first shots without the can were definitely loud to the side of the gun. This time we decided to try out the smaller Raptor 6 and see how that handled the Creedmoor. Initial impressions were that it took all of that big dog bark from that muzzle brake and turned it into a weenie dog yip. Let’s shoot some more.
What you can see in this shots is a healthy amount of blowback coming out of the ejection port. The can was doing a great job with sound but as there’s not a ton of volume, this blowback makes some sense. To try and deal with that, we added the largest size reflex on the back end. They make these for both bull barrel and standard profiles as you saw in the opening.
As far as sound goes, we didn’t notice a marked difference in volume. We also didn’t really notice a huge difference in the amount of blowback. Maybe a slight reduction but its tough to quantify. Either way, this set up was a ton of fun to shoot with. A well suppressed 6.5 creed is my jam.
Moving on from there, we switched to our 300 blackout pistol set up that I refer to as Doo Doo Brown. I love this thing. Also, I apologize ahead of time for our supersonic ammo being spotty with reliability. Its some stuff I’ve had laying around for years and it did not perform well at all. Bare muzzle testing didn’t show us anything out of the ordinary. It’s loud. We expected that.
On this one, the goal was to make it silly quiet so we used the 8 stack version. The supers sounded decent for sure, but the subs, that’s the bees knees. Now dealing with subsonic ammo is not a challenge for a well made suppressor BUT it does reinforce the good tone and characteristics we liked even more. As we shot more, things started to become very clear. These things are REALLY good.
Let’s cover the things we like first. We liked the simple styling. We liked the fact that you don’t have to time the mount or anything like that. It works no matter the orientation. And we really like the performance that we experienced. Also, I didn’t talk about this much but these things are incredibly light weight. On a gun like our 300 blackout pistol, that is something that is a huge bonus because heavy cans on AR15 platform guns is not my favorite.
Things we didn’t like as much is a shorter list and is less about not liking stuff and more about asking why we need it. To me, the reflex extensions don’t do enough to need them. There may be an application where they make a lot of sense but to me they don’t seem to be needed. That means the can by itself is good to go. Beyond that, I think the company offering 5 different versions of the same suppressor is overkill. Most suppressor brands offer a long version and then a short version of a can, and not much in between because the difference in performance between them in negligible. For me, I want the quietest thing around. Second to that is pricing, which isn’t bad here and then comes the weight.
Obviously we don’t have a meter to test these on but like I’ve said in suppressor videos before, that doesn’t tell the whole story and therefore isn’t the definitive way for me to determine what I think about a can.
I’ll sum it up with this. The AB Suppressor Raptor series is flat out excellent. I’m really just impressed with them. Taking the concepts from the turbocharger products they’ve designed and applying them here makes a ton of sense. The value is there and I think as time goes on, they will continue to show us some more innovative new designs.
I want to know what you guys are thinking. What is your favorite 30 caliber can on the market? Sound off in the comments and let me know what you guys like and if you enjoyed this video hit the like button and please share it with your friends. RIMFIRE WORKHORSE – Bowers USS22 – TGC’s Silencer Show!

This is the Bowers Group USS 22 suppressor. It is a rimfire can capable of sustaining some serious abuse and still sound great. The question I have? Is it any good? Lets dive into it after this.
At first glass the USS22 is a bit plain. Theres no fancy texture or crazy mounting systems or operation specific endcaps. Its just a simple rimfire suppressor. But that’s kind of the MO for Bowers group. They keep things simple but effective. In order to find out if the USS22 is effective, we had to first get some baselines. So let’s listen to what our demo guns sound like without a can. First is a TCR22 that was tricked out by Haus of Arms. Next we have a Taurus TX22. And finally the Savage Mk2 FVSR bolt action.
Pretty straight forward. Now let’s dive into how the can performs on the various guns. We’ll start with the TCR22. Now, keep in mind, this is sort of the worst case scenario for a 22 can. Supersonic velocities are common from a barrel this length and then you also have the action noise from the semi auto. So this isn’t going to be the quietest set up, but lets see just how good it does or does not sound. We started with Federal bulk pack ammo with a velocity of about 1200 feet per second. As you can tell, its easily super sonic but the can seems to do a decent job knocking the noise down a peg to a point where you can clearly hear the steel and dirt hits. Next we tried some CCI standard velocity. My gold standard for silencer testing. This made a world of difference. The velocity is under 1100 feet per second and at our testing facility it was definitely subsonic and therefore a LOT quieter than the bulk pack stuff. This is where a rimfire can comes alive in my opinion. What you end up hearing is more of the trigger reset and action noise than the rounds leaving the gun. Of course, we also tried some CCI quiet, which is stepped down to 750 feet per second and although it wouldn’t run the gun, it is hilariously quiet.
Okay lets keep it moving to the Taurus TX22. This test was interesting for us. For one, we got to bring out our new favorite 22 pistol, see our review linked in the description, and then we also found out the bulk pack stuff didn’t have enough barrel length to get up to full velocity so it sounded really good and ran the TX22 really reliably as well. The CCI standard velocity didn’t really sound much different to me to be honest. It also did a decent job running the gun. The CCI quiets, again, wouldn’t cycle the semi auto action, as we knew it wouldn’t, and it sounded ultra quiet.
Now onto the bolt gun. The best possible scenario for this type of test. We get full velocity out of the various test ammos and because there is no semi auto action, we get a better chance to hear what the can is doing for us. Take care to listen closely to these. Especially the background noises versus the actual sound of our shooting.
With the bulk pack, we could hear the crack of the supersonic bullet but we also hear that familiar tone with good suppression. Remember the other shots were from a range about 100 yards from us.
Now, the CCI standard velocity. This is easily my favorite set up overall. Good velocity for plinking or clearing out pests around the yard but also very quiet still. This can really does a good job on this set up. If you listen closely you can hear the sound of the firing pin.
And of course the CCI quiet is again, hilariously quiet BUT I prefer the standards over these because the bullet drop is pretty substantial at the much lower velocity and I prefer something that shoots flatter.
All in all, the USS22 does a fantastic job on all of these set ups. I have shot plenty of 22 cans and its right on par with stuff from the huge brands. Not only that, but it is also user serviceable… which is why its called the User Servicable Silencer or USS. Thats a big deal for dirty rimfire ammo. I said in the opening that this thing can handle serious abuse and thats because it is full auto rated and rated for everything from 17HMR to 5.7×28. This thing is a workhorse can. Now, the price reflects that at the MSRP of 495 bucks, but the value is definitely there if you ask me.
I’m curious to hear what rimfire can is your favorite and what you guys think of this Bowers set up. Let me know in the comments whats on your mind. Integral Browning Buckmark Carbine/KGM Serenity – TGC Silencer Show!

This is a gun and suppressor combo that no one else in the world has right now. Its a one of one. We’ve taken the Browning Buckmark Carbine and turned it into one of the coolest guns I own. And we’re going to dive into it, after this.
My journey as a gun owner has always been a bit of a roller coaster. I’ve never enjoyed doing things the same way as other people and thats kind of how I ended up with this thing. We’ve called it the Serenity and essentially its an integrally suppressed Browning Buckmark Carbine. My first 22 pistol was a buck mark and I loved it so much that when I learned they made a carbine version, I had to have it. It was actually on a trip to Georgia where I bought it standing next to Eric and Chad from IV8888. Hanging out with those guys are some of my favorite memories in recent years.
Fast forward a bit, and I had become friends with a guy named Kyle Grob. Kyle is the namesake behind what was KG Made and is now KGM Technologies. I don’t know how, but I managed to convince Kyle to take on this project to turn this heavy barreled plinker into one of the coolest guns around. Long story shorter, this is what he came up with.
The serenity is a Browning Buckmark Carbine, with a barrel that has been machined to become the baffles for a suppressor and then a lightweight tube has been added over the top to contain everything. And then everything was Cerakote in this really nice grey color. It looks fantastic with the dark laminate furniture that came on the gun.
The shooting experience is a lot like what you would expect. The gun weighs almost nothing. Its really easy to swing around and plink away like its going out of style. Not only that but the factory buck mark trigger is really good. Its not the lightest out there but I really like the clean brake you get from it. And of course its gold so my inner flashy guy says yes for that. In terms of how it sounds, well thats something I want you guys to judge with me. With supersonic bulk pack stuff, the gun runs well most of the time. As you would expect from cheap bulk pack stuff, but its also reasonably quiet. If we drop the ammo speed down to something like a CCI quiet, the gun just won’t run, even though its ULTRA quiet. Funny enough, I actually had a few of the quiet rounds sound louder, with almost a pop, as it was trying to cycle the gun. Strange. Maybe one day I’ll pull out the high speed camera and try to diagnose it. The best ammo combination I could find for reliability and sound is my gold standard for suppressor testing. CCI Standard velocity. On our range, at about sea level, this stuff just works so well. It runs the gun really reliably, and since its subsonic, the gun is super quiet.
The negatives come from the fact that this gun is based off of a 22 pistol designed many years back. The mag release makes sense for use as a handgun but not when its a carbine. I had to use my support hand to release the mags most of the time. Not a huge deal just an adjustment. The other negative is the 10 round mags. I’ve never seen Buckmark mags with higher capacity so I’m kinda stuck there. Maybe I need to hit up TandemKross for some aftermarket trinkets for this one. But those are pretty much the only negatives I have.
I also should note that KGM machined the top of the factory barrel to accept this pica tinny rail that I added for optics. I came with a weaver rail that was curved.
All in all, this Browning Buckmark slash KGM Serenity is unique and an absolutely boatload of fun to shoot. Whether I’m taking a newbie to the range or a real deal operator. This is one of the guns in my collection that gets everyone giggling. That’s my favorite kind of gun. At the end of the day, if we aren’t enjoying ourselves at the range, what are we doing?
Now like I said at the beginning of the video, this is not a product you can just go out and buy. KGM doesn’t offer these as a standard product and to be honest, I’m not sure if they ever will. HOWEVER, I do know the rest of the stuff they make is pretty rad too so they are work checking out as a company.
