WEEKLY GUN NEWS ROUNDUP – TGC News!

This week on TGC News, Lone Wolf has a weird new pistol, Master Piece goes colorful, new optics and GunTuber of the Week RETURNS!

Welcome back to another episode of TGC News, the only gun news show that covers things you actually care about, my name is Jon Patton.
First up this week is a new pistol from Lone Wolf Distributors the branding is a bit confusing. The gun itself is called the Guardian and its… how do I put this… a bit weird. Lone Wolf has made a name for themselves by creating a huge variety of aftermarket parts for Glocks. This builds on that by using their frame and basically its their gun from the ground up. The thing that makes it weird isn’t that its based around Glock mags like a lot of other stuff but the ABC thing. The magazine says A, theres a spot on the side of the gun with the letter B and the slide texture is made of the letter C. This reminds me a lot of the springfield grip zone. I’m torn on the validity of something like this. In a situation where adrenaline is up, you’re never going to be looking for the letters. But I suppose if you train using them it could make sense. This is also one of the only guns I’ve seen that when purchased, includes some level of training. To include web based training, a mini home defense course and some dummy rounds for practicing gun manipulations. It can be had with a gray or black frame and silver or black barrel. Dimensionally its similar to a Glock 19. It also has the option for this TacLock safety thats on the side of the slide and looks like they relocated the safety from a Mossberg 500. The MSRP on this lands at 779.95. For all the texturing and decent parts included here, it seems like a good value but I suppose the ultimate test will be on the range. I’m curious to know what you guys think of this system of a gun and training being sold together. Do you think that has merit or is it just another ploy to separate people from their dollars? Sound off in the comment section below and let’s talk about it.
You know what, theres so much other stuff to cover, we gotta do it. We just have to. I was hoping to not need it this week but we just have to. Izzy, minigun.
It’s rapid fire time folks. Cobalt Kinetics seems to be moving forward in their rebirth with the release of a new AR their calling the BAMF Pro. Long story short, they say that this is a result of working with law enforcement, military and competition shooters and is very similar to their ultra fancy BAMF rifle but its missing about 1.4 pounds of weight. It can be had with a whole bunch of different barrel lengths from 6 to 16 inches and comes in either 556 or 300 black. Trinkets are plentiful on this one for sure and I can’t name them all if we want to keep the pace up. All in all, It better be damn good because the MSRP is 2700 bucks.
Masterpiece Arms also has a new one called the AR9 PCC and as you may have guessed, its a pistol caliber carbine. Long story shorter, its another PCC claiming to be ultra reliable and blah blah blah, the gun industry needs new words for marketing. The real standout here is going to tbe the non-AR15 lower and the colorful handguard, grip and buffer tube options. MPA makes decent stuff so I’m sure it has potential but time will tell. MSRP lands at 1499.
Moving right along, magpul has dropped something simple but really neat if you ask me. Its part of their Daka pouch line and essentially its a magnetic parts tray that folds up and fits in your range bag. HALLELUJAH, to me this has big time potential for working on stuff on location. Something I am very familiar with. Pricing on these lands at 20 bucks for the small one and 28 for the larger one.
Rolling right along, some new optics have come out. Shield Sights has update their RMS with the RMS2. To keep it brief, the RMS2 is a beefier version of the RMS. They’ve ditched the battery tray in favor of overall strength and updated electronics. MSRP on these is 430 bucks. If only we knew someone that beat the crap out of pistol optics to see if they hold up… SAGE DYNAMICS, PAGING SAGE DYNAMICS.
And yet another new optic to round us out, Holosun has release what they are calling the X2 series of their small red dots. Essentially, the major update is that they include whats called Lock Mode, which prevents settings from being changed while carrying. I guess some guys had issues with that on their other optics? I dunno, either way, options are a good thing, and the MSRP ranges quite a bit based on the model but basically they’re 3-500 bucks.
Guntuber of the Week returns! I put out a call on social media and youtube for suggestions and you guys delivered in mass. Because of that, we have some new channels to share. For anyone new here, GunTuber of the Week is a segment where I share a gun related channel that by our standards, which are admittedly really high, puts out high quality, entertaining, informative content on a regular basis.
And speaking of that, our GunTuber of the Week this time is GunThots. Prior to asking you guys for new channels, I had never heard of these guys and now I’m glad I have. The content is stylish, witty and … here you take a look.
See, its like Garand Thumb meets a sixer of white claw. If you guys want to, and I think you should, go find the link to their channel in the description and get subscribed. Be sure to tell them TGC sent you.
It’s time for more Friendly Fire, the segment where I answer questions from you guys! This time our questions are coming from the TGC Nation facebook group. First, I’ll answer a question that was asked by a bunch of people in different ways. There is no way to know exactly how a Biden presidency will affect us. Every presidential candidate makes big claims to try and get elected but those promises don’t always come true. Remember when Trump said he would put Hillary Clinton in jail. How’d that work out? The reality is that its unlikely to be GOOD for us gun owners but we don’t know exactly whats going to happen just yet. Next up, Matthew Schinzing says what is the most effective 2A org to support? Well, the simple answer is FPC and GOA on a federal level and there are state level organizations everywhere that need help too. We need to be firing on all cylinders here. John Carr says do consumers still want firearms built by craftsman rather than machines? Yes. Brands like Nighthawk and Wilson Combat and others like that still survive with hand fitted guns but that type of gun will simply never sell in the volume of a cheaper to manufacture gun. And rounding us out, Rob Lane says what is your advice for surviving a national democratic landscape as a gun owner? The number one thing is to pay attention. We have survived this kind of crap before and we can do it again. You need to be involved in any way that you can. Whether thats financial support or getting involved in other ways, do it. You can also stay tuned to gun media outlets like Guns & Gadgets, Armed Scholar, Reno May, and of course, TGC to stay on top of the latest second amendment related happenings. The short answer is to stay vigilant. This is not going to be an easy fight.
