NEW CZ TS2, SIG GUN BUILDER, GEISSELE APOLOGY – TGC News!
This week on TGC News, Sig has a custom P320 builder, CZ has a new 75 Tactical Sport 2, and LOTS MORE!
Welcome back to another episode of TGC News, the only gun news show that covers things you actually care about, my name is Jon Patton.
We have a mountain of stuff to cover this week so izzy, if you would, please accelerate the barrels that contain the things that equal to ammunition expenditure.
That’s right its rapid fire time. Sig Sauer has officially made me sit back in my chair and say damn, why isn’t everyone doing this? With their new custom works P320 Studio. It’s all based around the FCU or fire control unit which you can now buy as a separate thing without a full firearm. The basic idea with this studio is to be able to set up a completely custom gun, the way you would want it, using sigs parts. You can change the grip module, slide, barrel, recoil assembly, mags and optics. Car manufacturers and aftermarket companies have been doing this for years. I mean heck, this is basically what gunstruction has been doing for years too but to see this integrated into a major manufacturers website is fantastic. GUN INDUSTRY, LISTEN UP, THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT. Make it easy for people to buy cool stuff and see what it would look like on their gun. Links for this and everything else we talk about today will be over on TheGunCollective.com if you guys want to check it out!
And speaking on the 320, a company I had never heard of called Trinity Nevada has released an extra fancy slide for that gun. Its called the Pirho, and quite frankly it looks fantastic. The main claim to fame here is the integrated compensator. I’ve seen this done before on guns from Agency and Zev, but this is a different approach. Essentially the compensator is actually part of the barrel and slide assembly at the same time. Because of that, you don’t have to get a different holster to accommodate a longer set up like you might with an added comp. The amount of cuts in this slide is bonkers but so is the price. Even though this is a complete unit with Dawson sights, titanium nitride barrel, and all those cuts, the price hurts. It lands at 1645 bucks. Yup, Moving on!
CZ has released a new one. Now, this isn’t from the US side of things so we may not see it stateside for a bit but its rad so we’re covering it. It’s called the TS2 or tactical sport 2. They are designed to be the IPSC gun of choice and have been updated over the older Tactical Sport line in almost every way. New frame, new geometry, etc etc. I’m not going to get into it all because there’s a lot. Its going to come in 3 different finishes, the standard with silver grips, then the deep bronze set up and the racing green version. I think I’d go for the green boi. How about you guys? Also, pricing wasn’t available anywhere for these things but the old TS model was about a hair over 1800 bucks. Geissele announced recently that they were jumping into the magazine game. They also stepped in it a bit at the same time. Originally they painted the picture that they were specific to the Geissele brand and that they were something special and they had them priced at about 22 dollars a piece. That is until instagram user From The Gun Counter, pointed out that they had the same cage code on them as the ultra cheap D&H magazines which normally go for 8-12 dollars. Ouch. Double pricing for the Geissele name? Not cool, BUT not long after that they changed their messaging and publicly apologized for the error and the high price. They even refunded the difference in pricing which was lowered to 13 bucks to those that bought at the higher price. I think the most interesting part is that this really puts a lot of weight on the D&H magazines capabilities because if Geissele felt comfortable putting their name on it, its very unlikely that they suck.
And now its time for.. Wait, we’re already doing rapid fire… how does this work? Can we put a rapid fire on top of a rapid fire? Is that legal? I don’t care lets do it. Industry News Double Time Rapid Fire style here we go. Saami or the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute has accepted 3 new cartridges. They include the 277 Sig Fury, which I’m sure most of you have heard of but seems to be vaporware at this point. Then the 6.5 weatherby rebated precision magnum or RPM. This one seems to be weatherby’s version of the 6.5 PRC. It slings 6.5 diameter 140 grain bullet at just over 3000 feet per second from a 24 inch barrel. Then theres also the 6.8 Western which is developed by Olin, the company that owns winchester. This one is slinging a 175 grain bullet at about 2800 feet per second out of a 24 inch barrel. Based on the dimensions this is way beefier than the 6.8 SPC so i suspect its meant for bolt guns and similar. We shall see if they end up doing anything with it.
Next up, Riton optics has expanded into a new facility. The new place is located in Tucson Arizona and they say this is due to the big demand they have for their stuff. Great to see more companies growing enough for that.
The NRA has settled a lawsuit with New York state for the sum of 2.5 million dollars. They were sued by the state for “soliciting and marketing the sale of insurance products” under their carry guard program. They’re also banned from selling insurance in the state for 5 years. As we’ve said before, the NRA is a mess and this is only part of their problems.
And rounding out our industry news, the NRL or National Rifle League has started a new series and it’s a really cool idea. Its called the NRL Hunter and the basic idea is to bridge the gap between hunters and their gear. According to the press release, these matches will be geared towards practical hunting applications and designed to test all aspects of the competitors gear and skills. All in all, stuff that gets people out shooting and using their gear is a great thing.
We’ve covered so much today guys, I want to know, what story mattered the most to you and what do you guys think of all of this stuff? Let me know down in the comments and we’ll talk about it.
Guntuber of the Week returned last week and since you guys gave me so many great channels to check out, we’re hitting another one this week. For anyone new here, GunTuber of the Week is a segment where I share a gun related channel that by our standards, which are admittedly really high, puts out high quality, entertaining, informative content on a regular basis.
And speaking of that, our GunTuber of the Week this time is Armed Scholar. His channel is dedicated to not just california gun law issues but also nationwide gun issues. Not only that but he is a practicing attorney so there is some level of credibility that comes with that. The production values are solid and the presentation is clean. Here’s a quick clip.
If you’re into that type of content, go find the link to his channel in the description and get subscribed. Be sure to tell him TGC sent you.
And a couple things I wanted to add in to our shows on a regular basis. Whenever I appear on someone’s podcast or videos, I’d like to share that with you guys so we can connect more and maybe you guys can tune into content that you might enjoy! That being said, I was on the Harvesting Nature podcast and had a great time reminiscing and talking about my limited hunting experiences. I’ll put a link to their website below.
And speaking of websites, I just want to say thank you to everyone that jumped on our brand new website and sent messages. You guys are fantastic and I’d love it if you checked back on a regular basis. Our deals section gets updated all the time and so does our content.
Speaking of content, for those of you that missed it, we have joined a new platform called Floatplane which is a subscription based site where we will be offering a 100% ad free version of our videos. If that interests you, the link in below!
After you click the like button, be sure to hit the secret affiliate link down in the description, that would be a massive help for us and of course don’t forget to get subscribed for more gun news every week and as always, thank you all for watching, we’ll see you soon!
